Kentucky Trophy Whitetail Deer Edges

Deer seldom run more than a few hundred yards and are difficult to push out of their home range. Deer hug the edges and stay inside their familiar areas.  Without familiar cover, they would have to relearn their home territory over and over.

Kentucky Deer are extremely vulnerable to dogs,  coyotes and poaching. When pushed to extreme Deer can be pushed out but Deer that leave their home range usually don't live long.

The edges that Whitetail Deer enjoy are always where there are transition areas.  By being just 10-15 yards from heavier cover or more open areas Deer increase their likely hood to survive. Deer can be within heavy cover or into field crops and open fields within a couple of jumps.  By being able to choose what kind of environment Deer can escape from or into they increase their ability to respond to danger and opportunities by staying in edge transition areas.
